Very welcoming people. The updates are lovely and the views are amazing! A balcony overlooking the river in every room. They are still under construction, so don't let the facade deter you. The whole concept is fantastic! Will definitely stay here again.

We had a tremendous time in Gruene! The Gruene River Inn was a great place to spend a couple of nights. The room was very clean and had an excellent view from the balcony overlooking the Guadalupe river. Overall all a great place to stay for a couple looking for a weekend getaway. The staff was very attentive as well. Definitely will return.

This place was amazing! The room was perfect, clean, had cute decor, a spacious bathroom and a balcony with a view of the river… and it is walking distance to all the fun in Gruene, TX. The outside looks a little weathered, but don’t let that deter you! This place is a gem! We definitely will be back!

Oh wow, I don’t even know where to begin! The VIEW, first off, absolutely beautiful ! The bed and pillows were comfy, the water temperature in the room was always hot, plenty of towels, water and drinks in the fridge, nice espresso machine and everything was VERY clean! It is a little small and there is not a lot of room to hang up your clothes but that was my only complaint! When we came in you could hear someone else’s tv but the minute we got in the room, it was as quiet as could be! Location is great and walking distance from everything to do in Gruene! I also wanted some blankets at 10 pm and got a response right away and the blankets were there when we got in! I loved the Gruene inn and would stay here again in a heart beat!

Our stay: Opening amidst chaotic construction, this inn prioritized a quick profit over guest safety and comfort, resembling more of a seedy Airbnb than a charming and secure accommodation. As seasoned travelers, having experienced everything from hostels in Thailand and luxurious stays at places like the St. Regis, we made a conscious decision to forgo staying at this establishment due to its unacceptable conditions and compromised safety.

Our stay at this Inn was extremely disappointing and I’m sharing my experience to help others traveling to the area. The inn’s decision to open its doors during a full-blown renovation was not only baffling but also a blatant disregard for guest safety and satisfaction. It felt like a clear attempt to make a quick buck to fund their construction project, without any consideration for the impact on the customer experience.

Upon arrival, I was shocked to discover that the charming inn described and pictured on the website was nothing more than a construction site. We were the sole guests, and the entire place was filled with loud construction workers. The entry had been redirected to an unmarked, unlocked exterior door – a blatant safety hazard. Our room lacked basic safety features, with no latch on the inside, leaving us feeling exposed and uneasy.

The stained bedsheets, malfunctioning lamp, and the unprepared TV were just the tip of the iceberg. The walls were paper thin and on top of the roaring construction ruckus, we could still hear every conversation and every phone call taken at the makeshift concierge desk as if they were in our room. The added absence of included amenities and communal spaces added insult to injury. It was evident that profit took precedence over providing a comfortable and secure environment for guests.

In choosing to open amidst ongoing construction, the inn compromised not only its charm but also the fundamental principles of hospitality. I strongly advise against staying here until the renovation is complete. Frankly, the building also looked like it could topple into the river below at any moment, a worrisome sight. Save yourself the frustration and potential safety risks by opting for accommodations elsewhere.

While we love this town and were excited to stay a boutique hotel in walking distance town—we opted to leave and seek refuge elsewhere before staying even one night here which turned out to be a significantly better, and safer, choice. We chose not to engage with the hotel staff about the issues before departing, as the situation felt irreparable. Given the time constraints for a wedding, leaving without attempting resolution was a decision we stand by – what was meant to be a relaxing stay turned out to be anything but, and we have no regrets about seeking better accommodations.

The current 5-star reviews seem like a misleading mirage, painting an illusion of excellence that starkly contrasts with our firsthand experience. These reviews fail to capture the ongoing renovation chaos, safety hazards, and the overall lack of commitment to customer satisfaction that characterized our stay. It’s essential for potential guests to approach these glowing reviews with a healthy dose of skepticism, as they may not accurately reflect the current and less-than-commendable state of the establishment.

We loved our stay. The room amenities were wonderful from the little conveniences in the bathroom to the nespresso machine in the room. Our view was amazing and it makes it seems much farther away from the city than it is. Its less than 10 min walk to the historic gruene area. We would even walk by deer to and from the hotel. We can't wait to come visit again when renovations are completed.

I stayed at the Gruene River Inn for two days in November of 2023. I had the most incredible stay, I was in search of a low key solo stay and that is exactly what I got. The staff communicated via text and there was no fuss. I stayed in the “Waylon” this room was the perfect mix of Moody and Modern. The vibes at The Gruene River Inn are off the charts! I will be staying with them again. I was completely relaxed when I returned home which is how a person should feel after a vacation.

Plus! Bonus points for being with walking distance from Historic Downtown Gruene Texas. Specifically Gruene Hall. I will see y’all next summer for a float trip and a concert at the hall!

The view from our room was absolutely gorgeous...I was really shocked when we came out on the balcony. ||The front desk was SO helpful and even sells little convenience items, the breakfast buffet had to top the charts in terms of what I've been offered at previous hotels. Really great food, and lots of fun seating options. ||The reading nooks in the front hall are so adorable and there's countless decoration pieces that add to the quaint and old-timey feel of the hotel.
