We had to take our daughter HUMC Pediatric ER couple of times (2020 and 2024) in early AM hours due to high fever. Both times we were so glad to have this facility near us. The check-in process was fast. Doctors and nurses were on duty. She even got x-rays, and other tests done on the spot. Both times she got treated within an hour. We returned home within few hours fully relieved.

The parking lot is within the campus. Free parking for patients. Valet service available as well. Security personnel are at the entrance for patient safety.

I usually don't post negative reviews, but when it comes to my family, I am pissed off. Hackensack Hospital has great treatment and services, as long as you are gonna stay alive because you are a cash cow for the health industry, but as soon as you are a hospice care patient and they can't take any more money out of your insurance, they throw to a corner like a garbage.

My mother in law is a cancer patient, and she had great care in a great and nice part of the hospital, but as soon as we were told that she had to have her breathing tube removed, not even 12 hrs later, she was thrown out and transfered to the most depressing room/area in the hospital to spend the last few hrs or days of her life and that is bs. No family should have to see their loved ones die in a depressing room like if they are in a basement with trash.

Horrible experience at this hospital. I waited patiently for 18 hours while the doctors had no idea what to diagnose my daughter with. They mentioned it could possibly be appendicitis but didn’t seem too concerned, even though her appendix was enlarged and borderline concerning. As a parent, I needed answers and reassurance about my daughter’s health, but after all those hours, I left without either.

We didn’t complain despite not having food or drinks for hours. After being told my daughter could eat, the nurses promised to bring something but never did. It took hours just to get approval for a CT scan, and even after that, we waited by the CT room door for hours without being seen. The lack of communication and compassion was appalling.

To make matters worse, the nurses were changed repeatedly—far more than what shift rotations would normally require. I had no idea who was responsible for my daughter’s care, and when I asked, no one gave me a clear answer. Instead, they claimed they were “helping each other,” which clearly wasn’t the case. When I voiced my frustration about being left in a hallway with my daughter in pain, I was met with nasty attitudes, backlash, and no accountability.

I understand there are more severe cases, but at what point does my daughter’s pain and health become a priority? The lack of organization, professionalism, and basic patient care was evident. I’ve worked in the medical field for many years, and it’s heartbreaking to see how unorganized and dismissive this hospital has become. It felt more like a fast-food chain than a medical facility.

While I searched for help, I saw nurses laughing, chatting, and some on their phones, completely ignoring patients in need. Where is the patient care? Where is the compassion?

I am praying for my daughter’s health and that she recovers without complications. If anything happens to her, it will be due to the negligence of this hospital’s pediatric ER. This was a total disgrace, and I will never return.

Got taken here after getting rear ended by another car while being 6.5 months pregnant. I will say they got me into a trauma area and hooked up very quickly and made sure my vitals were okay and the baby heart beat was there and strong That’s the only reason to give them 2 stars as to two nurses who worked with me were great. Alexa and Penny introduced themselves and kept me informed. But this hospital is way understaffed. A lot of the nurses are really rude and talk about patients as if they aren’t right in front of them. They fought for my monitor and argued if I should even be on one. Mind you I’m pregnant. I’m guessing one of the senior nurses Josephine walked around here talking about her co workers and patients. With a terrible attitude. Kept referring to me as the lady in the corner and why am I still there to move me so she can have the monitor. It wasn’t a great experience at all. I’m happy they took care of me quickly to get me on a monitor but then they all forgot about me. Honestly besides RN Alexa, my experience would have been hell on earth. No one communicates with you here and I just felt a lot of their conversations were completely unprofessional. After hours not anyone from the OB department coming down to see me. I chose to discharge myself and head to my hospital back in New York to be seen there.

My grandmother had to visit the emergency room recently, and we were fortunate to be cared for by nurse Evelina. She was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive throughout our time there. Evelina took the time to explain everything clearly, making sure my grandmother was comfortable and understood what was happening. Her compassion and professionalism truly stood out, and we’re so grateful for her care during a stressful time. Thank you nurse Evelina for being so caring and compassionate!!!

Hackensack was the WORST experience I ever had at a hospital … I won’t take away from the few nurses who were kind and helpful …..

I had gotten there at 2:30 in the afternoon with my sister from a car accident we were just in .. ambulance took us there to there “fast track “ area which was not that at all !!!

After waiting in “fast track “ waiting area we saw a DR. Scheduled some tests ….. shift changed happened and a nurse practitioner had taken over …remained in the hallway for hrs …. With promise of an observation room that was ready …. Never went into an observation room at all .. had to go to the front a numerous amount of times to ask for the results to be told each and every time they were not ready. At one point, a nurse came to administer meds. I had asked that nurse in regards to the test results. He then stated that he saw in the computer, they were ready and the doctor would come and speak to us ..(this point it is 10 pm) two hours later nobody came by yet again. Went to the front again to ask more questions and to remind them that we have been here since 2:30 in the afternoon and as of right now, it was 11:30 PM still waiting for results. Went to the front again stating to be discharged then at 12:30 am a physicians assistant said all was good pretty much . Discharge paperwork stated I was in an observation room which I never was in . I was in the fast track “ hallway the entire time …and after the pa said all was good … my discharge paperwork stated otherwise

I do not recommend Hackensack hospital to anyone !!!!!! Worst experience ever !!!!!

This hospital could have gone 5 stars if it wasn’t for my mother’s missing rope and slippers ( soft beige fluffy robe) and beige tan (animal print non skid slippers). I called patient experience and no reply back on reimbursement. The hospital on 3 link North is dirty I had to clean the walls, some of the nurses don’t clean after themselves. My mom even received a bed sore. I seen the nurses just sit around and talking and loud. The medical assistant Jenna was great!!!
The social worker Mark was excellent because of him I got my mom out of there.
