Celebrated the new year (2025) here with some friends. The only downside was that there weren’t bottles of shampoo, conditioner or body wash provided. Had to ask the front desk, I got body wash, but they were out of shampoo. Other than this, I didn’t see a thing wrong with the room.

My reason for picking this hotel was because it had a pool and hot tub. We had two of our grandchildren with us. We took the youngest of the two down to swim. Within a few minutes, his lips turned purple. I felt the water and it was ice cold! We took him over to the hot tub to warm it up. It, too, was ice cold! Told the women at the desk. She didn’t even know it! She said she would find out and never got back to me. A woman in the breakfast area told us they were both not working! So, they had nothing to do this weekend. Thank goodness I brought some games. When we got to the room there was only one towel and a 3/4 used toilet paper roll. We went down to get towels. The next day, someone came in and replaced our shampoo and soap. But no extra toilet paper. We ran out! The hotel is nice and clean. The staff friendly. Not worth the price due to poor quality of uses.

Bed was like a cement block with a thin mattress pad. I woke up so many times in the night in pain.
Stains on carpet and bedding.
No phone or microwave in room.
Thermostat display didn’t work so if you set it to cool it was frigid. If you set it to warm you were sweating. No way to fix.
We couldn’t turn on the fan in the bathroom and we also couldn’t turn off all the lights in the bathroom so we had to close the door. There is also a green blinking light in the fire detector(?) that kept me up all night with how bright it was.

The staff didn’t recognize us as members. We also had to pay for breakfast that is normally complimentary at other holiday inn expresses. $30 for food that was oily and not very good.

Overall we slept horrifically and we had an awful night.

Many issues faced during my stay at The Holiday Inn Chicago in Schaumburg. Starting with being checked into the wrong room which was basic, but once I got to my suite I realized the basic room offered more amenities which I couldn’t understand. Tub in the suite was dirty and no linens or pillows provided for the sleeper sofa. Even after requesting linens none were provided the duration of my 2 night stay.

The pool area was cold with no towels. Pool heater and hot tub heater were not working. After requesting towels from front desk, I was informed pool towels would not be available for 2 hours. At which point I asked for room towels instead to which I was told those were for incoming guest… I found a housekeeper on the 5th floor who gladly gave me towels as the front desk was very unhelpful.

There’s a major road near the property and chances you will hear cars and trucks throughout the night.

Staff was very nice and check in went without a hitch. Our room was large and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The room was very clean as was the bathroom with the exception of some mildew in the shower corners. Everything else was great except for the business center computers...way tooooooo slow. Took over 20 minutes for computers to even get to the windows opening screen. Time to upgrade them!

We stayed in room 405 and the door will not close all the

way unless pulled. When we came back to our room after being gone the second day, the door was left open by house keeping. I told the lady at the front desk during check out who didn't apologize or thank me for informing her of the issue. Very disappointing considering how your entire industry is about the security and comfort of your guests and their property.

In my guest profile I have indicated a preference for a room near the elevators. I have much difficulty walking and use a cane. The clerk could easily observe my condition. I suffer from Parkinson's Disease (agent orange exposure).

Upon checking in I was assigned room 442. This room turned out to be the room most far from the elevator. There were rooms available close to the elevator.

After my wife and I settled into the room my wife returned to the check in counter and complained about our room location. Later a hotel employee visited us and suggested that we could move to a room close to the elevator. We thanked the employee and refused the offer because the move we had settled into the room and the move would have required more walking.

I am concerned that the guest profiles are not read or read and ignored. Also the check who checked us in could have recognized the situation and could have assigned an appropriate

room.

I will no longer stay at this property

Terrible experience. We arrived at 3:14 pm for check in and I was informed none of the rooms were available yet due to them not being cleaned. Magically all of a sudden my room was ready as it was a suite. Upon arrival to the room there was no ice bucket, random hair tie was on the floor which whatever, but I did call to see if I could get an ice bucket and the front desk told me that they would have to see if they could find me one, but could not guarantee they would be able to. We got changed to go down to the pool and it was so cold my kids lips were turning blue and the hot tub was broken and ice cold as well, apparently it’s been broken for 6 months. Took the kids to get ready to just go to dinner. When we got back and I went to get into bed finally my sheets were dirty and had crumbs in them. I called the front desk and was informed I could come get new sheets from them and change them myself. I was told I would get a call from the manager on duty who never called and upon check out on Sunday when I went to check out. I asked to speak with the manager that was on duty and was informed that the manager had not even shown up for work that day.
